Orange Bourbon Cranberry Sauce

Ali - Gimme Some Oven
We've always been unsure of whether or not we actually like cranberry sauce, but when we tried this with our turkey this last Thanksgiving, we knew that this recipe was definitely going to be a keeper. Slightly less traditional, the hints of bourbon and orange make this recipe over the top delicious!

Servings 4 Cups

Equipment

  • 1 Saucepan
  • Stovetop

Ingredients

  • 2 12 oz pkg Cranberries
  • C White Sugar
  • 1 ⅓ C Brown Sugar
  • ¾ C Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
  • ¾ C Water
  • Zest from 1 Orange
  • 1-3 Tbsp Bourbon Or To Taste

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan and cook on medium-high for 15-20 minutes or until most of the liquid has reduced, stirring occasionally. Once most of the cranberries have popped, remove from heat and let rest for at least 15 minutes.
  • Serve garnished with extra orange zest. You can also cover and refrigerate for up to one week, simply reheating before serving.

Notes

We added a few minced jalapeños when we combined all the ingredients in the saucepan for a little extra kick.
