These chicken skewers are marinated in a chili oil to make them spicy, brown sugar to add a layer of sweetness, soy sauce for a layer of saltiness, and garlic for a layer of... well, garlic!
Wooden Skewers (Soaked in water for at least 4 hours)

1TbspCrushed Red Pepper Flakes
2TbspLight Brown Sugar
2ClovesGarlicFinely Grated
3TbspSoy Sauce
Salt
Pepper
1TbspFresh Lemon Juice
2lbChicken ThighsHalved
2Green OnionsThinly Sliced
Instructions
Heat oil and red pepper flakes in a medium pot over medium heat until oil is sizzling and has turned a bright orange color. Remove from heat and add garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Let cool slightly and add lemon juice.
Pour mixture over chicken and let sit at least 2 hours, up to overnight.
Thread three pieces of chicken onto each skewer. Place skewers onto a foil lined baking sheet, and broil until chicken is cooked through, browned and charred ins pots, 10-12 minutes.
